Sally Cox is a sculptor inspired by the history, beauty and potential of stone. She combines ideas of self, femininity and our global history with a concern for sensitivity to the material itself.

Leaving London for Yorkshire in 1990, Sally embraced the toughness of Pennine gritstone and its contradictory presence in both man's intervention in the landscape and  and as a naturally occurring stone of great power and stature. Her popular large scale garden grew in contrast to highly finished indoor pieces, which have been shown in galleries throughout England.

Since moving to Bristol in 2001, Sally has been working mainly in Bath stone at her studio near Bath.

Sally's Work responds to the softness of the stone in its colour and physicality and the refined manner in which it is used in the architecture of the region. Personal feelings and dreams are realised through three dimensional forms depicting images of goddesses and vessels; while wings and ladders lead to offerings of a safe space.
